ICSW at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha
The Second World Summit for Social Development, to be held in Doha, Qatar, in November offers the International Council on Social Welfare an important opportunity to present its perspectives on the ways and means to promote integrated social policy, enhance human welfare, and advance social justice and inclusion.
ICSW will participate in several Solutions Sessions sponsored either by us or by our partners.
Date & Venue:
November 5, 2025 | 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. | Room 106, Doha Convention Center
One of the highlights will be the session entitled:
Designing Integrated Social Policies for Inclusive and Sustainable Development
This Solutions Session is convened by the ICSW in cooperation with the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and the International Consortium for Social Development (ICSD).
Historically, social policy has centered on state-led interventions addressing poverty, health care, education, employment, and social security. These pillars remain essential, embodying the enduring social contract between citizens and the state—grounded in solidarity, redistribution, and protection against life’s uncertainties.
In recent years, however, the scope of social policy has broadened to include climate resilience, digital inclusion, gender equality, migration management, and intergenerational justice. These emerging challenges call for more adaptive, participatory, and cross-sectoral approaches.
The concept note for the session is available for download here.
