In December 1999 the UN General Assembly agreed to a collaboration
between the United Nations, the World Bank, the International
Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to
find ways to improve the financing of development. Recommendations
will be assessed and decisions reached at a high level global
meeting in 2002. The United Nations has held a series of regional
hearings through its Regional Economic Commissions, as well as
NGO and private sector hearings in New York. This section of the
website provides information on the Financing for Development
process, as well as civil society's views and recommendations.
