Workshops
At the recent ICSW Global Conference in Brasilia there were five special ICSW workshops. The overall theme of the workshops was civil society involvement in and contribution to poverty reduction and social inclusion. Related to the theme are the structures and processes that civil society needs to influence poverty reduction at both national and regional level. On the site are presentations by Timo Voipio, Senior Adviser on Global Social Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Gerry Fox Special Adviser to ICSW and by representatives of The Finnish National Committee of ICSW and the Tanzania Council of Social Development.

ICSW
held its 31st International Conference on Social Welfare
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 16 - 19 August 2004. The conference was entitled ´Social Progress and Social Justice´. It was hosted by the National Council of Welfare and Social Development
of Malaysia.

held its 30th biennial international conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands
form 24-28 June 2002. The conference was entitled "Bridging

ICSW
held its 29th biennial international conference in Cape Town, South
Africa from 23-27 October 2000. The conference was entitled "Poverty,
Social Welfare and Social Development - Challenges for the 21st
Century" and brought together 804 participants from
non-government, academic and government backgrounds and from 71
different countries.

International Federation On Ageing 7th Global Conference "Global

Applications (HUSITA7)

Being the first Conference on ICT applications in human services
in Asia, HUSITA7 is an ideal occasion for participants from different

Dr
Nagy Hanna, a senior advisor on national ICT strategies at the World
Bank and an internationally experienced development strategist with
extensive knowledge of national and corporate competitive strategies
and the use of ICT to support such strategies. His presentation
topic is "e-Development for Knowledge Economy, Institutional
Change and Social Inclusion".
Dr Tim Kelly, Head of the Strategy and Policy Unit of the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU), where he has worked since 1993. Over
the last eighteen years, Dr. Kelly has specialized in the economics
of the telecommunications industry. He also served as Head of the
Content Team during the first phase of the World Summit on the Information
Society (WSIS). His presentation topic is "The World Summit
on the Information Society and Digital Inclusion"

In order to make the Conference a true occasion for exchanging ideas,
knowledge and experience among attendees, we have organized a series
of workshops at which Outstanding projects related to "e-learning",
"e-case management", "ICT and healthcare" &
"online support groups" etc in different regions will

A
"post-conference tour to Shanghai and Beijing" will be
held from Aug 28-Sept 2. The tour will be a mixture of field visits
to human service organizations and sightseeing. The field visit
programme will introduce you to distinguished applications of ICT
in various human service settings in Shanghai and Beijing.
